Dance Competition will be held in the Starlight Ballroom of the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds, one of the finest dance halls in Iowa, a climate controlled facility with food and beverages available on premise and commodious restrooms and changing facilities.

This brochure is intended to include the entry form for Highland Dance Competition and General Admission. 


For special hotel rates, please contact the Davenport Holiday Inn at 319-391-1230. Be sure to mention the Highland Games to receive special rates, $72.00 per night. Deadline for reservations is August 23, 2000.


Highland Dancing Rules

· All judge’s decisions are final.
· Dancers may compete in one section only.
· Age applies as of August 28th, 1999. Proof of age must be furnished, if requested.
· ALL DANCERS MUST PRESENT A REGISTRATION CARD TO COMPETE.
If you do not have one, please contact your appropriate representative.
· Age groups will be determined according to number of entries.
· A trophy will be awarded to the highest point winner in each age group. Points will be awarded as follows: 1st, 88 points, 2nd, 56 points, 3rd, 38 points, 4th, 25 points.
· Any competitor not ready to perform when their number is called will be disqualified for that dance.
· No medals will be worn during competitions.
· Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities reserves the right to add or remove events from the schedule and to make other changes as long as its action is within the scope of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing rules and, in the judgment of the Committee, is in the best interest of the Competition.
· Competitors will remain in uniform until all medals and trophies have been awarded.
· No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by remittance.
· Dancers entering the competition first will dance last.

· Medals will be awarded in each event except Premier 16 and over category. Cash prizes will be for the Premier 16 and over category ($60 1st place, $40 2nd place, $25 3rd place)
