Blue Cat Brew Pub News Letter April - June 2000 Babble,
Babble, babble Hello
There !!! The Beer Corner: Ah, spring beer - the thought of it brings images of a hoppy but smooth ESB, and makes us get antsy so Joe's brewing the River Back Jack I.P.A. this week! Look for it on tap in about six months, and the really good stuff will be ready in about one year. The new recipe for a Raspberry Wheat, the winner of the 1999 Land of the Muddy Waters Homebrew Competition, is in the serving tank now, ready to be imbibed the evening of the April Beer Dinner. The new pride of Joe the brewer is his recipe for Springfest MaiBock, on tap now, but who is gonna complain about a great beer just a little bit early! Finnigan's Irish stout, on tap since St. Patrick's Day, still delights the senses in the chilly spring weather. Discussion has it that we'll have a true Pilsner this summer, so get ready! The Staff's Corner:
Many kudos to the committee steering
the 1999 Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities. This
inaugural event proved to be a great success, blending
all things Celtic, both the Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and
more. Many more attendees (approximately 2500) and
highland dancers (79) than expected arrived for a first
year games. Clan tents lined the fields with information
about family roots and tradition, battle reenactments
took place all day, and vendors supplied the crowd with
foods, jewelry, and anything else Celtic you can imagine.
Midlothian Pipe Band filled the air with
sweet tunes, and jumped in to play with Paddy's Racket at
the standing room only Ceilidh. The Blue Cat fielded a
team for the tug-o'-war, and by chance we entered
ourselves in the heavy athletic events. After competing
with veteran athletes, we have decided that we will build
a training facility and go back next year with the intent
to look much better when the television cameras are
watching. And of course, the Blue Cat created the Scotch
Terrier Rauchbier as the official beer of the
Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities. I tell 'ya, I
don't know where I could have so much fun in one day, and
get a commemmorative t-shirt, for 15 bucks. The Blue Cat
is proud to have been a contributing sponsor of the 1999
Celtic Highland Games of the Quad Cities and looks
forward to the 2000 Games. Check out the website for the Highland
Games to see just all that happened, and what is to
come. "Praise not the day
